American Airlines Boeing 787-9 Over the Gaylord Texan Resort – Dallas Fort Worth International Airport – Fine Art Aerial Print by Toby Harriman
⸻
About 3 miles north of Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and hovering around 6,000 feet AGL, this American Airlines 787-9 Dreamliner (N835AN) climbed out beneath us around 2,000 feet before crossing directly over the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center. The aircraft’s nose aligned perfectly with the Lone Star set into the center of the resort’s massive glass atrium roof, a rare visual connection between flight and architecture.
Opened in 2004, the Gaylord Texan’s octagonal skylight spans more than 350 feet across its diagonals. From above, the geometry, symmetry, and scale of the structure reveal the bold character of Texas design, while the Dreamliner adds a clean contrast of motion and precision.
